2009-01-21 - Beta Testing Phase

Internal beta testing of upcoming HRP v4 has started. While no real problems are expected, we are currently pointed at some better textures and skins we can use instead of worse-looking ones currently inside the pack.

There are still some items left we want to have in the final release, especially the new babes (or revisions of existing ones) by alandog, chicken or escapist. As soon as these are done, we are set and ready to go.

Hold on a little longer, you will probably see the results for yourself in February.

2008-12-25 - Merry X-Mas!

As this year approaches its end, so do our preparations to get next HRP release finished and ready for you to enjoy. Little is left to add - we are still waiting for a new statusbar by SwissCM, and that's pretty much it. All other contents for Ep.1 we wanted to have in this release is finished. Thanks to all those who contributed to it (or intend to do so in the near future)!

It shouldn't be too long till HRP v4 arrives. A release in January or early February seems possible, if not likely. This provides enough time for final fine-tuning or adding last items.

In the meantime, just hold out a little longer and enjoy your holidays! Merry Christmas to all of you folks out there and a Happy New Year!

2008-07-06 - HRP Status Update

Even though this site makes it seem as if the HRP is dead things are acutauly happing behind the scenes (as anyone who keeps an eye on the message board and the eduke32 port knows). It's just me being lazy with keeping this page up to date.

Not a lot of drastic updates, changes or additions have been made but revised and new content is constntly being made along with some improvements in the port allowing for a few new tricks. If anyone is interested in whats been going on I would sugest reading up on it in the 3D Realms forums where new content and features of EDuke32 is being discussed. You may also want to check out the update pack which is released by Nightfright roughly monthly with all the new stuff if you can't wait for the next full release.

NY00123 has also been updating his linux packages even though this site has kept linking to old versions. Since they are not extensivly tested we dicided to remove them from the downlod page. This also avoids the files linked in there getting out of date when they are updated. To check them out head over to NY00123's own site.

2007-04-27 - New version of HRP

It's been a while and even though there has not been any progress updates posted on this site progress has been plenty. Here is just a short list of changes since last official HRP release.

  • Latest snapshot of the EDuke32 port with updates like
    • Glowmaps.
    • Detail textures.
    • Smooth interpolation between animations on models. (Not on HUD models yet)
    • Texture caching.
    • Tons of updates and improvements for mod makers.
    • A ton of bug fixes.
  • All monsters now modeled, new since last version is Battle Lord, Moon Overlord, Cycloid Emperor, New Beast and Alien Queen.
  • Most babes now modeled.
  • A lot of new and improved textures and prop modeles.
  • All textures use detail mapping.
  • Glow mapping applied to textures and skins that glows in 8 bit (i.e. monsters eyes).
  • Newer version of the SD Duke mod.(Not latest as a new one was posted on the boards just hours ago)
  • Lots of tweaks to the map hacks making pickups and other models fit better in the maps.

For a complete changelog look in the hrp readme file. Note that a lot of stuf is in but this is still a work in progress version so there is still some stuff missing.

To download click here. Mirrors as well as other means of installation will be added as they are made available.

2006-09-13 - Linux installation packages of HRP version 051101

Thanks to New York(no not the city, he/she calls him/her self that) there is now installation packages for linux of the last official HRP release on the download page. In New Yorks' own words:

In contrary to the ZIP file they also come with compiled JFDuke3D, Build, EDuke32 and Mapster32 binaries, and they're installable too - in two forms: DEB packages and "any-distro" installation and uninstallation scripts.

Note that this is not the newer XTR release but the last official HRP release from last november.

2006-09-04 - HRP wiki online

A few days ago Algorithman sugested we could use a HRP wiki. After we had discussed it a bit it became clear this could potentialy be very usefull for all kind of things. I got it up and running this weekend and now it's public.

What can it be used for you ask? Well pretty much anything related to the HRP. Updating maphacks, posting new textures/models, tutorials, links to usefull tools and probably a bunch of stuff I have not even thought of yet. As it's mean to be resource for the comunity and there is no HRP team anyone is welcome to edit and add articles to it. Currently there is no registration requierment at all to use it and as long as it's not being abused it will stay that way. This will allow anyone to help out without having to use email or join the 3dr forum. Only thing that is restricted is uploading of files. Anyone that has good reason to upload files can contact me to get that permission though so if you want to make textures/models and have nowhere to host them you can use the wiki to release them. Since the intention with the wiki is to give this comunity project an additional development tool I will let the wiki evolve on it's own and let the comunity develop it to what ever turns out to be usefull.

Keeping track of what replacements of certian tiles there are and finding discussion about should be a lot easier using the wiki then having to browse through the huge forum threads currently used for releaseing textures. Currently there is no art list on the wiki but it will get added once algorthman has generated it. It will have thumbnails of the original art and download links to the highres replacemnets in the HRP. Anythng else can then be added by the users like WIP's and alternative versions.

As the wiki is mostly just an empty shell at this time head over to it here and start filling it up.

I also added links to the forum, todo list and the wiki to right under the nuke logo as you can see.
